Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NBA. Each week, we send out questions to the most plugged-in Detroit Pistons fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to join Reacts.
The Detroit Pistons are 0-3 so far this young season, and it already seems like there are plenty of storylines to follow, and things for fans to panic about. Because this franchise has been attempting to replace Chauncey Billups since trading him three games into the season more than a decade ago, perhaps it is inevitable the most angst revolves around the point guard position.
In this case it is the young, talented but struggling Killian Hayes. The 20-year-old point broke out a tiny bit against the Atlanta Hawks after struggling mightily in the season’s first two games. But fans already seem agitated about Hayes’ role, lack of progress, and whether the point this season is to try to win.
It doesn’t help that Hayes’ backups, Cory Joseph and Saben Lee, have not made much of an argument to replace Hayes in the starting lineup. And everything before Cade Cunningham suits up deserves a big asterisk. But we want to know what Detroit Pistons fans are thinking about Hayes’ role, potential and the best way to develop him going forward.
Also of interest is who people think will have the bigger breakout season among the team’s second-year players. Isaiah Stewart showed the most promise last season and has been steady so far this year, while Saddiq Bey has shown new wrinkles to his game that might force us to rethink what his ceiling truly is.
