Coach Dwane Casey will miss Detroit Pistons’ game against Pacers on Thursday

INDIANAPOLIS — Detroit Pistons head coach Dwane Casey will miss the team’s game against the Indiana Pacers due to non COVID-related personal reasons, the team announced Thursday. Assistant coach Rex Kalamian will assume head coaching responsibilities.

It’s unclear why Casey will miss the game, and when he will return. Casey was present at the Pistons’ shootaround at Gainbridge Fieldhouse at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Casey’s absence comes as the Pistons (4-22 overall) are mired in a 12-game losing streak, just two away from tying the franchise record. Cade Cunningham, the 2021 No. 1 overall pick, is averaging 22.7 points (on 47.7% shooting), 5.5 rebounds, four assists, 1.8 steals, 0.8 blocks and 4.8 turnovers over his past six games.
