Pistons encourage Detroiters to register to vote, participate in census with pop-up events

The Detroit Pistons have announced two pop-up events to help Detroiters fill out their 2020 Census forms and register to vote for the Nov. 3 election. 

With an assist from the city of Detroit and secretary of state, the Pistons will hold events on the following dates:

  • 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Sept. 12 at Adam Butzel Recreation Center (10500 Lyndon St)
  • 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Sept. 19 at Pingree Park (8598 E. Forest Ave.)

Also included are free food from local food trucks, entertainment from Hooper and the Pistons Dancers, giveaways, park activities and more.

It’s the latest in a series of Pistons events to encourage voter turnout and boost community engagement this summer. The Henry Ford Pistons Performance Center will become a satellite center for the election on Nov. 3.
