Video: Will the Pistons trade Blake Griffin or buy him out? Why announce this now?

Detroit Bad Boys

According to reports, Blake Griffin will no longer suit up for the Detroit Pistons as Troy Weaver and the front office search for a way to give Griffin a new home — either through a trade or a buyout.

This is somewhat shocking news to see. Most expected Griffin to remain with the Pistons until next year due to his enormous contract and his diminished value. Griffin is having the worst season of his career and looks like the shell of his former self.

The two sides have apparently agreed it’d be better for both if Griffin was elsewhere, and the sooner that can happen the better. Griffin obviously wants to play competitive basketball again, and maybe even compete for a championship. Detroit wants to move on with its rebuild, and Griffin made little sense on the current roster.

But, will the Pistons end up trading Griffin or buying him out? Why is this happening and being announced right now? I answer these questions in today’s video reaction.
