Detroit sports fans can finally rejoice.
After years of futility across all four major professional sports teams, the first sign of real hope came Tuesday night, when the Detroit Pistons won the NBA draft lottery and secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 draft on July 29.
There’s no word on who the Pistons will select, but the presumptive No. 1 player in this year’s draft is Oklahoma State point guard Cade Cunningham, who entered college as a 5-star recruit, chased by the likes of Duke and North Carolina and Kentucky, and it’s easy to see why: He’s good.

Real good. He averaged 20.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists in his freshman season with the Cowboys, shooting 43.8% from the floor and 40% from three.
