Write for Us: Detroit Bad Boys is adding more voices

Detroit Bad Boys

Detroit Bad Boys has been a huge part of my life for more than 15 years now. I discovered this site in the infancy of blogging as I scoured the internet for every two-bit platform that allowed people to talk about my favorite teams. It seemed like the natural evolution of message boards (shoutout to MotownSports), and once I found it, I knew I’d found a home.

As the Detroit Pistons turned from championship contenders to … the dark years, and with the national media completely neglecting the team, having a community of fans and passionate thinkers became more important than ever.

I’ve helped guide Detroit Bad Boys in one way or another for years now from my first game preview (a game against Dirk and the Mavs, I believe) to managing the site today. As the site continues to grow and interest in the team continues to grow, now seemed like a great time to add new voices to our ranks.

Be a Part of the DBB and Pistons Community

We are looking for new contributors to Detroit Bad Boys, and I’m happy to say that among the staff added, I can offer a stipend to some new writers as well. Have you ever wanted to write about your favorite team? Are you an aspiring writer looking for an outlet or a young journalist looking to get more reps under your belt and understand what it takes to cover a team?

It’s also important to me, that Detroit Bad Boys is home to new perspectives, to mentor young, passionate writers and to include voices not already found on Detroit Bad Boys. DBB is nothing without its community, and we want that community to include the best, brightest and most interesting voices.

How to apply

To apply, please submit a resume, cover letter, and at least one writing sample (preferably sports writing) at the listing here. Previous writing experience is strongly preferred. And a passion for the Detroit Pistons is a pre-requisite, obviously. In your cover letter, please include why you want to write for Detroit Bad Boys, your writing background and when in your life you became obsessed with the Detroit Pistons.

Questions

If you have questions, please feel free to email me at sean.patrick.corp@gmail.com. If you don’t quite have that writing background just yet, but you still want to be involved, I encourage you to become a bigger part of our community by contributing FanPosts on DBB. It’s a great way to practice, get feedback from fellow fans, and I’m always keeping an eye out there for future contributors!
