Motor City Hoops: Omari Sankofa joins to talk Pistons Summer League and the offseason

Detroit Bad Boys

On this episode of the Motor City Hoops Podcast (@MotorCityHoops), I had the pleasure of being joined by Detroit Pistons beat writer for The Detroit Free Press (@freep), Omari Sankofa (@omarisankofa). This was a first for me as I was able to record in person with my guest as Omari and I are both in Las Vegas for NBA Summer League.

Omari and I begin this episode giving our takeaways from Game 1 in Las Vegas. What did we see from Cade Cunningham (find my breakdown here)? How did he look playing next to Killian Hayes? What about the other returners like Bey, Sekou and even Saben Lee? We also got a chance to talk about one of the more “popular” Pistons draft picks, Luka Garza, as we got a chance to analyze his game on an NBA floor.

This episode was not ALL just about the summer league though. I wanted to get Omari’s thoughts and opinions on the entirety of the Pistons off-season including the draft as whole, free agency (specifically, Kelly Olynyk) and what he thinks will happen with the remaining two restricted free agents (Hamidou Diallo and Frank Jackson).

As always, we finish off the episode going Around the NBA and looking at a few of the teams from around the league like the Nets, Hornets, and Pelicans that I have not yet discussed in previous episodes.
