The Detroit Pistons have new jerseys, and they pay homage to every era of the franchise’s championship history.

The NBA and Nike unveiled 2021-22 City Edition uniforms Monday and they honor the league’s 75th anniversary. The Pistons’ iteration of the jersey features plenty of red, some blue, hints of teal and cameos by the flaming horse logo from the 1990s and 2000s, and the lightning bolt logo from the late 1970s.

“This year’s Nike NBA City Edition uniform is a celebration of our franchise’s rich history,” Alicia Jeffreys, Pistons’ senior vice president of marketing, said in a statement. “From the Bad Boys era to the ‘90s teal to the Goin’ to Work championship team, this jersey represents the Detroit Pistons legacy as we continue to build and restore for the future.”

The horse logo is embedded into the front of the shorts, and there are blue-and-teal lightning bolts on both the left and right side of the shorts. There’s also a patch on the bottom right corner of the jersey, and the numbers “89,” “90” and “04,” referencing the three years the franchise won championships, appear underneath the patch. Above the patch is another white lightning bolt.

The new uniform goes on sale Nov. 15.

“Savvy and skilled, with a never-back-down attitude, the Pistons have always played a style of basketball fit for the Motor City,” Aaron Cain, vice president and general manager of Men’s at Nike, said. “We designed the Nike NBA City Edition Uniforms to honor that culture, with details from all of the most legendary moments in the team’s past — giving fans an opportunity to celebrate the essential role their franchise has played in the NBA’s first 75 years.”

Last year’s edition for the Pistons featured a clean blue front with “Motor City” written across the top and “Detroit, Michigan” circling the bottom of the jersey number.
