SBN Reacts: Pistons fans overwhelmingly approve of new jersey, still have faith in Dwane Casey

Detroit Bad Boys

The product on the floor hasn’t been easy on the eyes for Detroit Pistons fans, but at least they will be able to watch the players in a nice new jersey soon. Fans are all in on Detroit’s new City Edition jersey, which combines elements from the 70s, 80s and 90s in a sharp little red number that features zero racing stripes and zero “chrome.” It even has a pop of teal and the horse head logo from the 90s for the Teal Truthers out there.

A resounding 81% of fans like the Pistons’ jerseys, according to the latest SB Nation Reacts survey. By Pistons standards that’s a blowout, but it actually is less than the league average as 83% of all survey respondents are supportive of their home team’s City Edition jersey across the league.

Things are much less clear when you ask fans which City Edition jersey is the best as it fractures along party lines. The winning jerseys belong to the San Antonio Spurs and the Toronto Raptors with 12% of the vote. The Charlotte Hornets are next at 9% and the Bulls follow with 6%.

While Pistons fans are clearly a pro City Edition party, things are a little less certain when it comes to the head coach of the struggling Detroit basketball team. Just 28% of survey respondents are “very confident” in Casey as the right person to be the Pistons’ head coach in year two of the rebuild. Another 38% are somewhat confident, so he still has the support of more than 60% of the fan base, but the cracks are beginning to show. In fact, 11% say they’d prefer Casey be replaced right now.
