Detroit Pistons sign former Virginia standout Braxton Key to 10-day contract

The Detroit Pistons have signed Delaware Blue Coats forward Braxton Key to a 10-day contract, the team announced Thursday.

The 6-foot-8 G League forward is averaging 18.9 points (47.5% overall shooting, 38.8% from 3), 7.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.5 blocks in 28.2 minutes per game this season. The Pistons, who have nine games remaining, will get an extended look at the former Virginia standout as the season winds down.

Key started his college career at Alabama, where he was named to the All-SEC freshman team. After two seasons with the Crimson Tide, he transferred to Virginia and was immediately eligible. He won a championship in 2019 and averaged 9.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists as a senior before going undrafted in 2020.

The Pistons host the Washington Wizards at 7 p.m. Friday.
