Detroit News NBA mock draft: Pistons look to restock for the rebuild

Detroit News

With the NBA Draft now less than a month away, the only certainty seems to be that there’s no consensus, from top to bottom.

Last week’s NBA Draft Lottery laid out the draft order, but now the teams have to figure out where all the puzzling prospects fit, starting with the Orlando Magic, who sound genuinely undecided on what to do with the No. 1 overall pick.

“I honestly don’t know what to expect,” Magic president Jeff Weltman said. “The way the players are coming into the league now has changed so dramatically the last 10 years or so. There’s just such an incomplete resume until you get the visits and get to flesh out the rest of the process. When guys come in after one year of college, and in some situations not even that, the process to complete the rest of the application, if you will, is really important.”

So while that process enters the next phase for Pistons GM Troy Weaver, who’ll have plenty of options with the No. 5 pick, here’s an early guess at how the first round of this year’s draft might play out.
