Game notes: The Pistons take on the Mavericks tonight at 8:30 on Bally Sports Detroit before starting a four-game homestand on Wednesday. The Mavs have been beset by injuries, with Luka Doncic missing Saturday’s loss to the Jazz. The star guard, who has 33 games with at least 30 points this season, injured his ankle Thursday.

Also likely missing will be big Christian Wood, the former Piston who suffered a fractured left thumb on Jan. 19; the Mavs’ second-leading scorer was averaging 18.4 points a game. Without them, the Mavs have turned to former Piston Spencer Dinwiddie, who has 50 games after appearing in just 70 over the past two years while recovering from an ACL tear.

Dinwiddie, the Pistons’ second-round pick in 2014, is averaging 17.6 points this season after putting up 35 against the Jazz. One more ex-Piston to watch: Reggie Bullock, who had 19 against the Jazz, is averaging 6.4 points in 29.5 minutes per game.

The Pistons and the Mavs previously met on Dec. 1 in a thriller won by Detroit, 131-125, in overtime. Regulation wasn’t pretty for the Pistons, as they gave up the final eight points over 90 seconds to go to an extra session, but Killian Hayes took over with two 3-pointers in the final 75 seconds to clinch the game. Doncic scored 35 that night at Little Caesars Arena, former Wolverine Tim Hardaway Jr. added 26 points and Bojan Bogdanovic led the Pistons with 30.

After tonight, the Pistons come home and host the Washington Wizards at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Mavs, meanwhile, host the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday.
