Detroit Pistons to play preseason game vs. Oklahoma City Thunder in Montreal

Detroit Free Press

The Detroit Pistons will travel north in October.

The NBA announced Thursday that the Pistons will face the Oklahoma City Thunder in Montreal on Oct. 12. It’s the first known preseason game on Detroit’s 2023-24 schedule.

In January, the Pistons played the Chicago Bulls in Paris.

“The Detroit Pistons organization is excited to be part of the NBA’s Canada Series during the upcoming preseason and play in a great city like Montréal,” general manager Troy Weaver said in a news release. “This will be a nice experience for our players and coaches, and we look forward to showcasing Detroit Basketball to a Canadian fanbase that is already so passionate and familiar with the NBA.”

PLAYING PARTNERS: Cade Cunningham is back, so how will Pistons’ other guards fit in with him?

The game could feature Cade Cunningham, who missed the majority of last season after undergoing shin surgery in December. It will also highlight the rest of Detroit’s young core, including 2023 fifth overall pick Ausar Thompson and their pair of 2022 lottery picks, Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren.

It’s one of two games for the league’s Canada Series 2023, as the Sacramento Kings will face the Toronto Raptors in Vancouver on Oct. 8. Fans can register for presale tickets at NBA.com/CanadaSeries.
