Omari and I are back with a special episode of The Pistons Pulse where we were joined for the first time by a current player in the Detroit Pistons organization. We were fortunate enough to be joined by former Houston Cougars guard and No. 25 overall pick by Troy Weaver in the 2023 NBA Draft, Marcus Sasser.
Sasser played for Red Oak high school in Texas before his four year career with Houston that concluded with an incredible senior campaign. The 6-foot-1 guard racked up multiple awards that included being a consensus first team All-American, Jerry West Award winner, AAC player of the year and first team All-AAC. Sasser also was a member of the AAC all freshman team during his first year with the Cougars.
Sasser played in a total of 107 games, starting 90, accumulating almost 1500 points while shooting 37% from behind the 3-point line and 82% from the free throw line. In his senior season he averaged 16.8 points, 3.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game while only turning the ball over 1.6 times per game.
We can not thank Sasser enough for taking the time out of his schedule to join us and talk about his journey from college to the NBA Draft and now to the Motor City to play with the Detroit Pistons.
