NBA Finals Game 1 GameThread: Celtics vs. Mavericks

Detroit Bad Boys

The NBA Finals are finally here. After a long layoff courtesy of some lopsided conference finals matchups, the Boston Celtics will take on the Dallas Mavericks. It feels like everyone thinks this is Luka Doncic’s NBA Finals to lose after dispatching the defending champion Denver Nuggets and easily outclassing the insurgent Minnesota Timberwolves.

But people might be forgetting just how good this Boston Celtics team can be. They had an easy time through an injury-riddled Eastern Conference playoff slate, but that shouldn’t be held against them. They still have a lethal offensive attack, and Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are not too far removed from Doncic and Kyrie Irving as a dynamic duo. Plus, we will see what the return of Kristaps Porzingis can do to make the Boston lineup even more dangerous … or maybe upset the established rhythm and cohesion on the roster.
