Draft week is upon us. Trajan Langdon and Tom Gores’ press conference is complete, we know that Monty Williams won’t be the Pistons’ head coach next season, some new front office executives and shooting coach Fred Vinson were brought to Detroit. So, let’s focus on the draft that starts in, uh, two days.
I mean, we still need to know who exactly will coach the Pistons next season, but the draft can tide us over until that shoe falls.
Now, since it is draft week, I figured a final-ish big board was a good starting spot for any and all draft discourse.
A couple of housekeeping notes: first, this is my personal big board, which isn’t Pistons specific. I won’t be adding any prospect notes here to keep things concise. I’d recommend the Pistons Draft Guide, which was posted on Detroit Bad Boys last week, for a deeper dive on a number of these prospects. The guide includes measurements, pre-draft year stats, a sales pitch and film video for 31 of them.
Lastly, this isn’t a mock draft. It’s solely raw player rankings. I hope all prospects I have listed in my top-60 hear their names called this week, but that isn’t realistic. Teams will take fliers on guys later on. They’ll make promises or choose a stash pick on players far down my radar. Plus, spoiler alert, Bronny James isn’t included in this top-60 and he seems like a surefire bet to get drafted.
Let me know where I’m wrong, some players I don’t have listed that maybe I should take another look at, who you’re higher or lower on than the consensus and who you’re hoping ends up a Piston.
