The Detroit Pistons appear to be drafting their way out of a rebuild. With Thursday’s 2022 NBA draft over, experts and analysts are applauding Detroit’s haul. Following a solid 2022 NBA draft, the Detroit Pistons have signed former Syracuse guard Buddy Boeheim to a two-way contract, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin and The Post-Standard’s Mike Waters. Boeheim is the son of Hall of Fame Orange coach Jim Boeheim, who was college roommates with former Pistons great and Detroit Mayor Dave Bing. THE FUTURE:
The Detroit Pistons were active early and often on Thursday night in the 2022 NBA draft. Their third selection, in the second round at No. 36 overall, is wing Gabriele Procida, who played for Fortitudo Kiğılı Bologna in Italy’s top league, Serie A. Procida averaged seven points and three rebounds for Fortitudo Bologna in 18.5 minutes per game
With the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft, the Detroit Pistons will be at the “mercy of the board,” general manager Troy Weaver said on Monday. Something the Detroit Pistons haven’t had much of the last decade. Choices that arrived with the most salary cap room in the league. Choices that don’t have to be made on draft
The Detroit Pistons have traded forward Jerami Grant to the Portland Trail Blazers for the 2025 first-round pick via Milwaukee, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The Pistons are sending Grant into a $21 million trade exception, which leaves Detroit with approximately $43 million of cap space this summer, according to Wojnarowski. FINAL MOCK DRAFT: Pistons

The 2022 NBA draft, at last, is Thursday. You likely know the drill by now — the Detroit Pistons have the fifth overall pick and feel good about their odds of landing an impact player. Mock drafts are more art than science, and there will always be surprises on draft night. The Pistons could go in
Troy Weaver, predictably, didn’t tip his hand during his pre-draft media availability on Monday. The Detroit Pistons will value upside, but they don’t see age and upside being correlated, he said. If they believe an older, more experienced prospect has more long-term potential, they will go that route. Roster fit matters, but roster fit is
